How Christ Builds His Church | Acts 1:1-8 | 7th January 2024 | Chris Boraston

What Christ's Ascension Means To Us | Acts 1:6-14 | 14th January 2024 | Chris Boraston

Pastor Chris Boraston explains what it meant to the disciples then and still means to us today. In Acts 1:6-14 we see that Jesus (1) retains his full humanity in heaven and thus his empathy with us, (2) exhibits his full deity, and (3) will return once we as witnesses of his saving grace have evangelised all the nations.

Jesus Fulfils Scripture | Acts 1:13-26 | 21st January 2024 | Chris Boraston

Following the ascension of Christ, the disciples wait in Jerusalem for the promised outpouring of the Holy Spirit, devoting themselves to prayer (Acts 1:13-26). Having personally witnessed Old Testament prophesies concerning Jesus being fulfilled, they turn to the scriptures for insight concerning the traitor Judas.

What Pentacost Means To Us Today | Acts2:1-4 | Chris Boraston | 4th February 2024

Old testament believers looked forward to the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the Day of Pentecost, an event foreshadowed in various Old Testament scriptures.

THE MIRACLES AND MEANING OF PENTECOST | Acts 2:5-13 | Chris Boraston | 11th February 2024

Chris Boraston reviews the spiritual and physical elements that constitute the Church, with a particular focus on the Holy Spirit’s role in dismantling long-existing barriers between Jews and Gentiles. The radical inclusivity that emerged from these historical events transcends race, language, culture and prejudice, establishing the Church as a ‘new wineskin’ including believers from all nations and walks of life.

Peter's Sermon At Pentecost | Acts 2:14-36 | Chris Boraston | 25th February 2024

The first act of the church was to preach, opening the scriptures. The main event was a sermon delivered by a Spirit-filled preacher, Peter. In this sixth sermon of a series on the book of Acts delivered at Garden City Church, Pastor Chris Boraston looks at these three main points: 1. Peter Empowered 2. Preaching Impassioned 3. Prophecy Personified

Other Sermons

The Only Foundation Is Christ | 1Corinthians 3:1-17 | 31st December 2023 | Chris Boraston

Expounding 1 Corinthians 3:1-17, Pastor Chris Boraston points out that only God can make the gospel seed grow and provide a sufficient foundation for life, but we ourselves must water the seed and build with durable materials.

The Covenants Of God | Jeremiah 31:31-36 | 28th January 2024 | Edgar Andrews

What did Jesus mean when he said at the last supper “this is my blood of the new covenant”? We explore this question using Jeremiah’s prophecy (Jer. 31:31-36) and extend our examination to the other two covenants which affect our eternal destiny.

Tongues, Prophecy and Preaching | 1Corinthians14 | Edgar Andrews | 18th February 2024

Chapter 14 of 1 Corinthians is devoted to a comparison of prophecy and tongues but why bother since chapter 13 declares that both will pass away? We find that far from being redundant, this chapter shows the Corinthians how the principles set out in chapter 13 on love must be applied in practice. These spiritual gifts were a necessary temporary provision enabling the church to grow while there was no written New Testament to guide them, And when they do pass away, they give way to preaching Christ until He returns.
